Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Teacher engaging preschool children in a colorful classroom activity.

The Center has a philosophy based on current early childhood education and care based on development theory and research, based on the following principles:

• the importance of the family and community

• respect for ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds

• recognition that collaborative, participatory relationships among children, parents, teachers, and

create powerful and successful education and care programs and improve the quality of life in the

community

• the rights of all children to receive education and care services that maximize their potential

• a stimulating, educationally-rich environment for children to make sense of their world

• The belief that proper guidance of children occurs in an atmosphere of respect, positive relationships, non-violent conflict resolution and cooperation to promote the welfare of the group.

  • Control: Teachers have the option to choose      when to prompt the AI assistant or import files for enhancement.

Infant Toddler

The Julia Lopez Center also provides  General Child Care and Development (CCTR), for infants as young as 8 months old to 23 months. The infant classroom is limited to between 10-12 infants. The pair of toddler classrooms serve between 15-20 children each.

Our Facilities

Our Philosophy

Our Facilities

School supplies and globe on wooden table background.

With a current childcare license capacity of 137 children (up to 117 preschool age, 10 infants and 10 toddlers), the Julia Lopez Center boasts 6 classes with 27 teachers and several teacher aides. Indoors, the classes share play and education areas for dramatic play, writing, math, science (dinosaurs, bugs, plants, and animal life cycles), art and several reading libraries and quiet areas.

The play yard for children ages 2 to 5 is roughly the size of half a football field, with a big toy play structure, various play structures like a slide, a car and metal frame "train," a sandbox, shade trees, and sidewalk paths for walking and tricycles.

We have age-appropriate toys, books, and equipment, as well as a nutritious meal program through the Building Better Communities Foundation.

Our Staff

Our dedicated and caring staff are passionate about early childhood education and have the experience and qualifications to provide high-quality care. We maintain low teacher-to-child ratios to ensure individual attention and support.

Our lead teachers are state-certified, with either a Masters or Associate Degree and a Teacher permit, and our aids have a minimum of 6 child development units, though many of our aids have between 12 and 24 units in child development.

Our Parent Resources

Our Parent Resources

Our Parent Resources

Group of young children engaged in arts and crafts activities.

We understand the importance of working together with parents to support each child's development. Our parent resources include regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and a parent committee.

We support parents who are attempting to face challenges in an ever-changing economic world, while facing the demands of parenting through programs and resources, many of which can be found in our directory binder and parent bulletin board which include immigration and legal assistance, health clinics, parenting class listings, job placement agencies, and other health and wellness information. We also partner with local law enforcement, the fire department and the City of Orange Cove itself for local events such as parades and festivals.
